The Village of Kut

BOUGAINVILLEA, BELLTOWERS AND THE BEST RESTAURANTS

The property is in a lovely village called Kut, just a 20 minute walk around the bay from the main town of Vis, where the ferry arrives. The walk around this "C" shaped harbour is really enjoyable, through pretty lanes, past old stone village houses and beside the sea.

Kut is one of the prettiest areas of the island, with beautiful Venetian architecture in the typical pale golden stone. Everywhere you look there is bougainvillea, plumbago and sweet-scented jasmine spilling over the walls in the cobbled lanes. It's just two minutes' walk from our house to the Kut quayside, down two sets of stone steps. The quayside is popular with those who sail the islands of the Adriatic, so you will find many beautiful yachts moored up in Kut, creating a lively atmosphere.

By the quayside you will find a grocery store, two bakeries, two greengrocers, a wine outlet, a local cheese stall and several excellent restaurants. There is also a small tourist information point, which will hire bikes and scooters for exploring the island. The beach, which has its own beach cafe, is just a ten minute walk from the villa, towards the headland.

Around the bay in Vis Town you can find a bank with ATM, many more shops and food stores, a fruit and veg market, a fish market, car hire, and several more restaurants, bars and cafe's.
